Hello my precious reader and welcome again to my site. Today I am quickly doing an overview of 10 reasons why we should drink more water, the great stuff it does to our bodies.
Water is so important to our lives that we can never emphasize its intake enough. The maximum number of days a human being can go without water is tonly three. However the human body can go without food for a much much longer period than that. Water is the second most vital element to the human life next to oxygen, right before food. Without further delay, here are the 10 reasons why you should drink more water:
- Water is 75% of the human brain
- Water Carries oxygen to the cells
- It helps flush out toxins
- Prevents constipation
- Helps to burn fat
- Protects the heart
- Keeps the skin looking young, supple and healthy
- Helps regulate body temperature during exercise
- Decreases fatigue
- Is the BEST non-calorie beverage
How much do you really need?
So how much water do you really need on a daily basis? Well there are many answers to this questions out there. For example some say : drink only when thirsty. Others say: the water the system needs comes from various sources : the foods we eat, the beverages on top of the “pure” water we drink; therefore, according to them, you don’t need too much water if your diet is healthy meaning : you are having loads of fruits, vegetables and other “healthy” drinks besides the clean, ‘pure water’. Others say to check with your urine; if it is concentrated meaning : it is either dark, brown, yellow or orange, etc.… that is a clear indication of dehydration and should prompt you to grab that water bottle or glass. So which option do we run with ?
How much water we should drink a day….
This depends on whether you are a man or a woman; how active your life is, whether you’re pregnant or not, etc. but generally speaking, you should drink between 25% and 50% of the your body weight in ounces of water daily. For example if your weight is 200 pounds, you need to get about half of that in ounces which is 100 ounces or as little as 50 ounces of water a day i.e. between 50 to 100 ounces a day. This will allow you to stay hydrated on a regular basis. Dehydration has very big side effects such as headaches, lack of energy, weight gain, weak immune system, getting colds and flu easily, brain fog, etc.
Moreover, increasing fruits and vegetables daily intakes as well as exercising can greatly boost hydration. Fruits and vegetables are rich in electrolytes such as magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium. Regular daily movements or exercising increase circulation throughout the body. This can be walking, cardiovascular training, burst training, weight training, etc. this can really not only improve circulation but also the overall electrolyte levels and thus help nutrients circulate and get to the cells properly.
Not any water is good. Yes you need to drink more water but also, what water you drink is equally important. Of all the sorts of water out there, I recommend pure water which is distilled water. For more on this, please check my previous articles below where I covered this in-depth.
Thank you very much for your attention. Please let us know in the section below how much water you have been having up until now and if you are satisfied with that quantity or looking into raising the bar a little more…. Peace.
